Standing up for myself

Hi I have aspergers syndrome and I have sometimes I have trouble communicating with others and wording my words correctly. Anyhow just recently I found out my inlaws judge me on the fact I have aspergers syndrome. They think I'm mentally challenged and do not know the difference between someone who is mentally challenged and someone who has aspergers syndrome. Well, today I stood up to them by writing them a letter telling them how dare they judge me on my syndrome a lot of famous people have it .And Other people who are not famous function just fine. Sure I have my limitations but I'm not retarded. And they judge me on my syndrome. I told them to not judge me because they do not know me and gave them information on aspergers syndrome. They need to be educated on the facts. I cried after this because I have been bullied by them for a year since my husband and I got married. Also this is the first time I stood up for myself and it felt really good.
