Out of the mouths of babes

When my son Peyton was 5 we lived in rented accommodation in Melbourne with 6 foot high fences and a large cubby house. One day my neighbor knocked at the door to warn me of my sons "scary" behaviour in the back yard. We stood at the back door and watched him as a man walked by our yard....a stranger to Peyton. Peyton sat on the cubby house roof and lent over the fence and said "hello, my name is Peyton, do you want to play, come to the door and I will let you in?" I was horrified.....I quickly went outside and told him to get down and started to explain to him the "Stranger Danger" speech. I said "sweetie you cannot just invite anyone in, they are strangers and they could hurt you or mummy" to which my gorgeous little 5y/o Aspie child said "MUMMY THEY ARE NOT STRANGERS, THEY ARE JUST FRIENDS WE HAVEN'T MET YET"....Something I will never forget. He is such a beautiful, now 11y/o boy who still has awful trouble making and keeping those precious friends.
