Out of the Mouths of Babes

Prior to having children, my Jewish husband and I, a Christian, decided to raise our children by The Golden Rule and teach them the history and traditions with which we were raised.
At age five, but undiagnosed, my daughter got into the car when kindergarten let out and burst into tears. She asked,
"Isn't it true we live by The Golden Rule?" I assured her we did. She then railed, "Why do we have to? It's not fair because nobody else does."
When the same child was eleven we moved to Oregon (or to the North West) from South Florida (or from the South East). Two weeks after settling in my daughter, with much consternation, said, "Mom, the people here are so nice they make me nervous. It's like, what do they want from me?"
Moral of the story: Aspies may not be great at reading body language or identifying sarcasm, but they intuitively know right from wrong.
