It Is Good To Know What Makes You Different by: Robert Markham
Hi Emily:
It is good to know that you have Aspergers and how it makes you different from other people. I was 48 years old before I knew that I had Aspergers and before that I never knew why I was different from other people.
The wonderful thing about being an Asperger is you can use your special way of thinking to become anything you want to be. I have been a manager in a factory, a private detective, an officer for the Sheriff Department, an insurance adjuster, a songwriter, and I have written books.
An Asperger person has all they need to accomplish anything they want in life. But on the other hand we can be very lonely because we don't know how to respond to other people or what they want from us.
Have a good attitude. Believe in yourself. And try to overcome any social inhibitions by taking speech and acting classes and learning scripts. I know that helped me a lot.

You have an excellent attitude and it will serve you well. I hope as society begins to recognize the gift of Asperger's it will be embraced as wholly as you have.
