Brothers are Irreplaceable

by Joni
(Prairie Grove, AR)

My family was recently able to put a name to our only daughters unique personality. After 6 years of knowing in my heart that she was different yet unable to put my finger on the cause it was finally found to be aspergers. At school she shows most of the common signs of social problems seen by children with aspergers, however at home she doesn't so much. Finally after much talking with friends we feel we have discovered why. You see my daughter has to be one of the luckiest kids around because she has two wonderful brothers. Her older brother is 9, he is the ultimate social butterfly, very popular, overly loving, straight A honor role student and he adores his little sister. He wants to be a teacher one day so since he could write he has played school with her, she is way ahead of other 1st graders because of this. As if this wasn't enough she is also blessed with the most loving, adoring little brother. He is 2 and his hero is his precious sister, he goes along with anything she wants as long as she'll play with him, and she can do no wrong in his eyes. He like his older brother is very social and loving and always all smiles. I really beleive that these two little boys have helped their sister in ways she and they will never fully understand. They have been a blessing in disquise for her in helping her understand the world, people and in general dragging her out of her shell. Her world would be a much darker place if it weren't for her brothers
